Installation

We provide an SDK to help you implement context management features such as document snippets and masking already seen documents. The SDK is available for Python, TypeScript, and Go.

The distribution is named sid-sdk and the import package is sid.

uv add sid-sdk openai
pip install sid-sdk openai

Use Python 3.12+. Prebuilt ABI3 wheels cover macOS, Linux and Windows, so no Rust toolchain is required unless you build from the sdist.

Install the TypeScript SDK and the OpenAI client:

npm install @sid-ai/sid-sdk openai

Use Node.js 22+. The package includes the snippet engine as WebAssembly, so no compiler is required. You can use ESM or CommonJS. Use the SDK on your server.

Install the Go SDK and the OpenAI Go client:

go get github.com/sidhq/sid-go github.com/openai/openai-go/v3

The SDK needs Go 1.23+ and the OpenAI client needs Go 1.26+. The SDK is pure Go, so no C compiler is required.

Create an API key

To use the first-party SID API, create a key on the API keys page. You may need to contact SID to enable SID-2 access for your account.

export SID_API_KEY="sid-sk-..."

Use this key when making requests for an episode. See Making a request for the SID, Baseten, and SageMaker client settings.
