System prompt

The system prompt names your subject matter and sets the search → repeat → report scaffolding for the episode. This is the recommended prompt verbatim:

INSTRUCTIONS = """You are an expert research assistant that is given a question and must use the provided search tools to find all documents needed to answer the question.

Steps:
1. Reflect on what information is needed to answer the question and use the search tools to find documents. Each document has an id.
2. Repeat step 1 until all documents necessary and sufficient to answer the question have been found. Take as many turns and searches as needed – you can make multiple searches per turn! Most questions will require multiple turns. Many will need more.
3. Use the report_helpful_ids tool to report the most helpful document ids. List the most helpful document ids first (important!).

The episode ends once report_helpful_ids is called."""

  • The opening sentence is yours. Say what your documents are (support tickets, case law, product manuals) and what the model must find. Keep it to a sentence or two.
  • Keep the numbered steps and the closing sentence. The reflect → search → repeat structure, the "most helpful IDs first" instruction, and "The episode ends once report_helpful_ids is called" are part of the trained scaffolding.

Unlike some models, SID-2 does not read tool behavior from the system prompt: tool descriptions go in the API tools field, and demonstrations go in tool_examples.
